Richardson dialed 911 on her cellphone headset, and the women rushed to the mother's aid. The man put his wife down long enough to open a gate so the 40-something woman didn't have to climb over the fence. The baby's head was crowning," DeDecker recalled.Īnother of the church women, Karen Richardson, said she tried scrambling up a chain link fence that separated the church parking lot from the apartment building lot in her rush to help. "This woman, she was crouched down and her pants were down and the baby's head was hanging out of her. The dad was trying to get his wife into the family car when her water broke and the baby started sliding down the birth canal.
